I hope you have an experience that alters the course of your life, because, after Africa, nothing has ever been the same
— Suzanna Evans

Phezulu Pre-Vet is based on a commercial, livestock farm, in Cathcart (a unique part of South Africa), which provides convenient access to large animals, including horses, sheep, cattle and small animals as well as rich wildlife habitats and access to game farms. We work closely with a wide range of qualified animal professionals with diverse ranges of experience. In addition, students will benefit from talks and lectures by professionals from a variety of animal associated disciplines and will also be exposed to or actively take part in the diagnosis and delivery processes, providing them with a well-rounded experience.

We offer a structured programme that consists of three main components, i.e., Small Animal Practice, Large Animal Practice and Wildlife, including management, feeding and breeding practices as well as animal anatomy. Typical experiences include pregnancy scanning, injecting, inoculating, lambing, calving as well as observing and assisting veterinarians with operations and/or treating animal injuries and diseases.

The aim of our program is to give vet students, pre-vet students, or anyone interested in animals, conservation or the veterinary field, the opportunity to work with animals in an African veterinary setting. Our program is designed to give exposure to different aspects of veterinary and farming work in South Africa. It is aimed at students who are applying to vet school or already enrolled, but we also welcome anyone who is involved with animals.
